We are interested in teaching and learning innovations in order to fulfill our mission of providing a transformative environment that fosters the academic, social, economic, and cultural enrichment of the individual and the community.
Which NISOD benefits does Pellissippi State Community College use the most and how?
The benefits that we use the most are Innovation Abstracts and the webinar series. For years, faculty and staff from Pellissippi State Community College have attended the International Conference on Teaching and Leadership Excellence. We also attend the Virtual Conference, which includes sessions first offered at the annual conference. The Virtual Conference is a cost and time-effective way to expand our participation in NISOD’s professional development opportunities.

Pellissippi State Expands With New Buildings
Pellissippi State Community College is working on its largest expansion in 44 years. The new 82,000-square-foot science and math building will help Pellissippi State meet demands for classrooms and lab spaces that have increased due to Tennessee Promise and Tennessee Reconnect, last-dollar scholarships offered to high school seniors and adults without college degrees.
Pellissippi State Establishes Teaching and Learning Center
Through funding from the Department of Education, Pellissippi State has established a center dedicated to faculty professional development. The Pellissippi Academic Center for Excellence (PACE) facilitates quality and innovation in teaching and learning through collaboration, partnership, and professional development throughout the college.
Pellissippi State Partners With Blout Memorial to Train Nurses
Pellissippi State Community College is helping Blount Memorial Hospital nurses train to care for COVID-19 patients. The partnership allows the Maryville hospital’s nurses to train in the nursing simulation lab on the college’s Blount County campus.
