Sandburg to Offer New Cybersecurity Certificate Starting This Fall
A new 16-hour cybersecurity certificate that can be completed in as little as one semester will be available to students beginning with the 2019-20 academic year. The certificate is designed to provide a foundation for skilled workers who provide security to the informational infrastructure of banks, utilities, electrical systems, communication organizations, medical facilities, and more.

A natural welder and teacher, first-year instructor Bart Slye puts an emphasis on compassion toward his students. “I am into kindness. Never talk down to [students], never [be] condescending,” Slye says. “Besides me being in charge, we’re both equals, we’re both human beings. New MakerSpace at Sandburg Combines Creativity, Technology
The addition of a MakerSpace in the Carl Sandburg College library provides a place that is dedicated to creating, building, and idea-generating through the use of technology. The room features a silhouette printer, a laser cutter, two 3-D printers, and more, all of which are available to students and the public.

Sandburg Announces Promise Program That Could Pay Up to 100 Percent of Tuition for Grads of Two Area High Schools
Thanks to a $4.2 million gift, Carl Sandburg College last spring announced a new program scholarship opportunity for Monmouth-Roseville and United High School students that could pay up to 100 percent of their tuition. The first class of students in the program will enroll at Sandburg this fall. This is the second promise program implemented by Sandburg that is available to students in the college’s district.
