Two Heads Are Better Than One: Collaborating for Undergraduate Research

For several years, the facilitators have collaborated across institutions to bring actual psychological research to community college undergraduate students. This webinar begins with a brief synopsis of the national dialogue on undergraduate research and its utility in undergraduate education. Special attention is given to the importance of introducing such activities in the nation’s community colleges, and the facilitators share how they began their work together, with an emphasis on the in-class mechanics behind the effort. The webinar wraps up with lessons learned and an invitation for dialogue.

Jason Kaufman, Ph.D., Ed.D., is an associate professor of educational leadership at Minnesota State University, Mankato and a licensed psychologist. He teaches using a lean and lab-rich approach to promote scientific thinking. His research explores how nature and mind-body practices can promote human functioning and leadership. He enjoys nature photography as time and travel allow.

Jon Jensen, MA., is an adjunct psychology instructor at Inver Hills Community College. He is currently finishing his doctorate degree in Educational Psychology and Technology. His research is examining online learner success, as well as the integration of mobile technology in education and research. In his very limited free time, he enjoys building classic cars and gardening.
