Working Collaboratively With Faculty and Staff

Working in today’s community colleges is complicated. Full-time, part-time, and contingent faculty teach on campus or remotely, or a hybrid of the two. As roles shift and expand, workloads increase, as do faculty and staff needs, but the number of hours in the day do not. This webinar focuses on practical ways to bridge differences and distances between community college faculty and staff to get things done collaboratively. Learn about ways to plan, organize, conduct, and assess collaborative committees, projects, or initiatives on your campus.

Dr. Janet Salmons is an independent scholar, writer, and coach through Vision2Lead. Dr. Salmons started her academic studies at Tompkins-Cortland Community College and went on to receive a B.S. in Adult and Community Education from Cornell University. She holds a master’s in social policy studies from the SUNY Empire State College and received a doctorate in interdisciplinary studies and educational leadership at the Union Institute and University. She has written several books, including Learning to Collaborate, Collaborating to Learn (2019), Doing Qualitative Research Online (2016), Qualitative Online interviews (2015), and edited the Cases in Online Interview Research (2012). Dr. Salmons is a recipient of the Mike Keedy Award (2018) from the Textbook and Academic Authors Association, given in recognition of enduring service to authors, and is the Methods Guru and community manager for SAGE Methodspace. She also served as a dissertation supervisor and qualitative methodologist for the Walden University Ph.D. program in Educational Technology from 2016 to 2017, on the doctoral faculty of the Capella University School of Business from 1999 to 2016, and was honored with the Harold Abel Distinguished Faculty Award for 2011 to 2012 and the Steven Shank Recognition for Teaching in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016.
