How long have you been a college educator?
I have been teaching for 10 years.
What is your favorite part about being a community college educator?
My students sign up for welding technology classes because they truly want to learn the skill. Welding is difficult, so helping students reach mastery in various welding skills is exciting to watch and be a part of.
What is your best piece of advice for new or existing colleagues at community or technical colleges in your field?
Keep things exciting, and you will never work a day in your life.
How do you connect with your students?
In order to connect with my students, I listen to them and take an active interest in their successes.
If you could have dinner with anyone, who would it be and why?
Definitely Tim Allen. He’s an incredible actor, but also likes working with his hands. Plus, he seems like a down-to-earth person.
Every month, NISOD profiles faculty and staff from our member colleges who are doing extraordinary work on their campuses. #NISODProfiles offer a direct connection to your colleagues from across the world who exemplify NISOD’s mission of improving teaching, learning, and leadership.
